Amidst the snow-covered winter world, the deep green leaves and bright red berries of the holly bush stand out. The prickly leaves offer a protective nesting spot for small birds while its berries provide a source of food through the harsh winter months. The protective nature of holly is sometimes thought to extend into homes during the holiday season, when bringing holly branches inside is believed to bring good luck, peace and happiness to all those within. As the last birth flower of the year, holly celebrates both the milestones and memories of the last year and good fortune in the year to come.
The design for the Holly Ornament began as a “life casting”, a process in which a mould is made from the actual object, in this case holly leaves, then cast into pewter. Amos is known for this approach to design, representative of our innovation in creating pieces that are truly unique. Which is why, as Amos Pewter celebrates its 50th year, we thought it appropriate to use a life casting as our Annual Ornament. 3.5"L
