"It takes a village to raise a child” or, in the case of the fox, a skulk to raise a kit. Often seen hunting alone, foxes are perceived to be solitary creatures; however, they actually live in small family groups (“skulks”) while raising their young. The skulk consists of the mother, father and sometimes older maturing offspring, each participating in nurturing, protecting and teaching the young kits. Over their first seven months of life, with care from and play with their family, kits will learn the skills needed to survive on their own. These relationships provide a deep awareness of family while also nurturing a sense of independence. This is what we strive to pass on to our children - the knowledge that their family will support them in developing the skills they need to care for themselves. Eventually they will be able to provide the same fostering care to their own offspring.
Trimmed with a burgundy ribbon, each ornament is ready for hanging on the Christmas tree or in a window. We can add a brief hand inscription to create a wonderful keepsake.
