"While looking very elegant in any of its standing poses, the silhouette of a heron in flight, long neck tucked gracefully into its body and thin legs stretched out behind, is one of my favourite images. Herons are found near fresh and salt water in many parts of North America. They leave the cold climates for the winter. Toward the end of March, I eagerly await their return to our Nova Scotia shorelines."
